Claims that Gobekel tepe is around 12000 years are based on the assumption from carbon dating organic matter which had adhered to the stones structues found at the site in the past.
Although carbon dating is widely recognised as an accurate method of dating articles, it is proably important that other dating techniques are used to verify the age of this site.
